Why we made this

Most sponges are made entirely from plastic. Our scrubby sponge™ is crafted with plant cellulose and coconut husk delivering a super effective clean that you can feel good about using.

The Earthly Co.® Difference

Coconut Fibres

A textured coconut husk scrubby side that tackles stuck-on food and everyday messes.

Plant Cellulose

A soft, absorbent plant cellulose side that lathers beautifully.

Thoughtfully designed

From everyday classics to playful shapes, there’s a scrubby sponge™ for every sink.

Dishes, sinks & beyond

From the kitchen to the bathroom, this is your go-to all-purpose household sponge.

Less “old sponge” smell

Plant-based fibres help resist odours between uses. Rinse, wring out and let dry after each use.

Plant-based power

Rich lather and a tough scrubby side tackle everyday grease and grime.

Compostable Cotton

Made from 100% cotton flannel that can be composted when it’s ready to retire.

OEKO-TEX® Certified

Our fabrics and inks are thoroughly tested to be safe for your home and skin.

Naturally Cling Together

The flannel fibres naturally cling to one another, letting you easily roll them back onto any standard paper towel holder.

Double-Brushed Both Sides

Brushed on both sides for a maximum absorbency and a buttery-soft feel.

Designed In-House

Joyful patterns dreamed up by our team, made to brighten your everyday.

Multipurpose to the max

Great for spills, counter cleanups, kids’ messes, muddy paws and beyond.

Sustainable bamboo

“I keep one for dishes and another for cleaning. They work really well and I like that they’re made from plants. It was an easy swap!”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is scrubby sponge™ made from?

An absorbent plant-cellulose side and a coconut-fibre scrubbing side, joined with an adhesive. One side for lathering, one for tackling everyday messes.

What is the pop-up sponge made from?

100% plant cellulose. It arrives compressed and flat for easy storage, then expands when you add water.

Is scrubby sponge™ compostable?

While it’s made from plant cellulose and coconut fibre, it contains an adhesive to hold the layers together. Because of this, we don’t currently claim that the finished sponge is compostable.

How do I care for my scrubby sponge™?

After each use, rinse with hot water, wring out, and let it dry. Wash periodically to help keep odours at bay and get more life out of your sponge.

What’s the difference between scrubby sponge™ and the pop-up sponge?

scrubby sponge™ has an absorbent cellulose side and a coconut-fibre scrubbing side. Our pop-up sponge is made from 100% plant cellulose with no scrubbing layer. It stores flat before first use – just add water and watch it pop up!
